Renato Varani , occupa e si è occupato, fin dall'inizio degli anni '70, dell'editoria di movimento, della stampa antagonista e della sua distribuzione. Sempre negli anni '70 è tra i fondatori della "Cooperativa Punti Rossi" che aveva come obbiettivo primario la diffusione di libri, riviste e di tutto quello che produceva il movimento in quegli anni. Continua ad occuparsi di editoria con la Cooperativa Hummingbirds.
